Sindh Faces 50% Water Shortage; CM Murad Vows Ongoing Protests

Sindh is currently facing a 50 percent water shortage, with significant concerns raised over the management of canals in the region. In a press statement, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah expressed his frustration over the water crisis, which has deeply affected the province’s agricultural and economic landscape.

Murad Ali Shah identified six canals that are contributing to the water shortage, stating that the continued use of these canals is exacerbating the issue. The Chief Minister emphasized that these actions were undermining Sindh’s case regarding the distribution of water and vowed that protests would continue until the closure of these canals is officially announced.

“The ongoing water shortage in Sindh is severe, and the situation will not improve unless there is a decisive action,” Murad Ali Shah said. He added that the actions surrounding the canals were only hurting Sindh’s position in the water dispute, and the protest would persist until a resolution is found.

While addressing the situation, Murad Ali Shah suggested that the TPT (possibly referring to a specific policy or plan) could worsen the case for Sindh, as it shifts focus away from the critical issue of equitable water distribution. He firmly stated that until the canals are closed, the protests would continue.

In a related development, the Sindh CM also attended the convocation ceremony of Ziauddin University, where he congratulated the graduating students and highlighted the importance of education in the country’s development. He expressed his belief that the youth of Pakistan would play a central role in the country’s future growth.

“The future of Pakistan lies in the hands of our educated youth,” Murad Ali Shah remarked. He further assured the students that the provincial government was taking significant steps to improve education and enhance opportunities for the youth.

In conclusion, the Sindh Chief Minister reiterated his commitment to addressing both the water crisis and the education system. The protests regarding the water shortage are expected to continue until there is a substantive response from the relevant authorities.
