POLITICS & POLICY MAKING

The Sindh government has officially reduced the maximum age limit for government jobs from 43 to 33 years, with the new policy set to be implemented from January 1, 2025, to December 31, 2026.
Previously, the general age limit for government employment was 28 years with a 15-year relaxation, but under the new directive, only a 5-year relaxation will be granted, making the effective age limit 33 years.
The Chief Secretary of Sindh has issued a formal notification following cabinet approval. However, the new age limit does not apply to Sindh Police and Public Service Commission jobs.
The move comes after a hiring freeze on government jobs in Sindh, prompting authorities to revise age eligibility criteria. Earlier in February, the Sindh Cabinet approved a University Amendment Bill that increased the upper age limit for government jobs by five years.
This decision is expected to impact thousands of aspiring candidates seeking government employment in Sindh.
