Sindh High Court Halts Police Constable Recruitment Over Merit Violations

The Sindh High Court Sukkur Bench has halted the recruitment of constables in the Sindh Police following complaints of irregularities in the selection process. The court has imposed a stay order and suspended all recruitments until May 5.

Court Proceedings & Allegations

️ A petition was filed by candidates who scored above 70, 80, and 90 marks but were declared failed, while candidates with less than 50 marks were selected.
Justice Zulfiqar Ali Sangi and Justice Nisar Ahmed of the Sindh High Court Sukkur Constitutional Bench heard the case.
️ Lawyers Shabbir Shar, Athar Abro, and others represented the petitioners.
️ Petitioners alleged that recruitments were based on political recommendations rather than merit.
️ The court was informed that names of candidates with high marks in physical and written tests were missing from the final selection list.

Court Orders & Next Steps

️ The court has sought responses from:

  • Home Secretary
  • IG Sindh
  • DIG Nawabshah & DIG Sukkur
  • SSPs of various districts
️ The next hearing is scheduled for April 8, where authorities must submit the complete recruitment record.
More than 6,000 candidates had been declared successful in Larkana, Sukkur, Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas, and Shaheed Benazirabad ranges before the stay order.

Impact of the Stay Order

️ All recruitments remain suspended across Sindh until further court orders.
️ The case has raised concerns about transparency in police hiring.
️ Petitioners demand a fair and merit-based recruitment process without political interference.
