POLITICS & POLICY MAKING
Sindh Home Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar has stressed that the ongoing operation against dacoits in Kachha areas must be brought to a successful conclusion, declaring that any surrender by bandits will be accepted only in accordance with the law.
He made these remarks while chairing the first meeting of the Kutch areas monitoring committee in Karachi, where officials reviewed the current security situation, operational progress, and government strategy.
During the briefing, AIG Operations highlighted the urgent needs of the police force, stating that success against the bandits would require modern equipment, advanced weapons, safe vehicles, and upgraded check-post facilities. The officer also emphasized the need for high-quality training for the force deployed in the region.
Minister Lanjar acknowledged delays in the operation, noting that the lack of timely action had hindered its completion. He insisted that “we have already delayed too much, but now the operation must be concluded successfully at any cost.”
Referring to the legal framework, he clarified that any peaceful surrender by dacoits or their groups would be subject to established rules and regulations.
The minister also praised the progress made in the last seven months, citing that the construction of bridges in Dadu, Moro, and Larkana-Khairpur had contributed to reducing crime. He stressed that the completion of the Ghotki-Kashmore bridge was a priority, as it would significantly curb criminal activity in the area.
Lanjar reiterated the government’s commitment to eliminating banditry and ensuring long-term peace in Sindh’s vulnerable regions.
