Six Soldiers Embrace Martyrdom, 12 Terrorists Killed in Waziristan Operations

Six Pakistani soldiers laid down their lives while 12 terrorists were killed in two separate encounters in North and South Waziristan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, according to a statement released by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Friday.

The military's media wing revealed that on Thursday, security forces successfully foiled an infiltration attempt along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in North Waziristan's Spinwam area. Seven terrorists, identified as "khawarij" (outcasts), were detected attempting to enter Pakistan. After an intense exchange of gunfire, all seven terrorists were eliminated by the security forces.

A large cache of weapons, ammunition, and explosives was recovered from the slain terrorists. The ISPR stated, "The infiltrators were surrounded, effectively engaged, and after an intense fire exchange, all seven khawarij were sent to hell."

This follows a government directive issued in July, officially designating the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) as "Fitna al Khawarij," and mandating the term "khariji" for referring to terrorists responsible for attacks on Pakistan.

In a separate incident in South Waziristan's Ladha area, a group of terrorists launched an attack on a security forces checkpoint. The soldiers repelled the attack, killing five more terrorists. However, six Pakistani soldiers made the ultimate sacrifice during the fierce gunfight.

The ISPR confirmed that security forces are continuing sanitization operations to eliminate any remaining terrorists in the area. The military remains resolute in its commitment to eradicating terrorism from the region, stating, “Such sacrifices of our brave soldiers further strengthen our resolve.”

Pakistan has recently witnessed a surge in terrorist attacks, particularly in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with security forces and law enforcement agencies frequently targeted. The escalation in violence follows the breakdown of a ceasefire agreement between the government and the TTP in 2022, after which the TTP vowed to resume attacks on security personnel.

Earlier this month, four terrorists were killed in an attempted attack on the Frontier Corps headquarters in KP’s Mohmand district, and in August, three soldiers were martyred while foiling an infiltration attempt along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in Bajaur district.

Despite these challenges, Pakistan’s security forces remain committed to ensuring peace and stability across the country, making significant sacrifices in the fight against terrorism.
