Linda McMahon, former head of the Small Business Administration (SBA) and co-founder of WWE, has been appointed by Donald Trump to lead a new agency aimed at expanding universal school choice in the United States. Trump praised McMahon’s dedication to parental rights and educational reform, stating that she has been a key advocate for school choice through her leadership at the America First Policy Institute (AFPI) and America First Works (AFW).
Trump emphasized McMahon’s role in helping achieve school choice in 12 states, ensuring that children have the opportunity to receive an excellent education regardless of their socio-economic background. He assured that McMahon would continue to fight “tirelessly” to extend universal school choice nationwide.
McMahon, who previously served as a major donor and supporter of Trump’s political career, had been a potential candidate for Commerce Secretary, a position ultimately given to Howard Lutnick, CEO of Cantor Fitzgerald. McMahon’s latest role, however, aligns with Trump’s campaign promise to dismantle certain government agencies, though that may require Congressional approval to implement.
As chair of AFPI, McMahon has been influential in shaping conservative policies on education, advocating for reforms that prioritize parental rights in school decisions. The appointment marks the next chapter in McMahon’s public service career, following her leadership of the pro-Trump super PAC America First Action.
