US President Donald Trump has indicated that a potential agreement with Iran could be reached soon, highlighting ongoing progress in both direct and indirect diplomatic engagements, including those involving Pakistani intermediaries.

In an interview with the Financial Times, Trump said that discussions with Iran are advancing, with Pakistani diplomats playing a role in facilitating indirect communication between the two sides. He expressed optimism that a deal could materialize in the near future.

The US president also issued strong warnings, stating that Washington has the capability to seize Iranian oil assets, including strategic locations such as Kharg Island, a key hub for Iran’s oil exports.

Trump further claimed that Iran had recently allowed multiple Pakistani-flagged vessels to transit through the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz, with the number reportedly reaching 20 ships. He attributed this development to approval by Iranian parliamentary speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf.

Reiterating his administration’s diplomatic efforts, Trump stated that communication with Iran is taking place through both direct and indirect channels, and described the progress as “good.”

In addition to comments on Iran, Trump made remarks regarding Cuba, predicting that the country would face imminent challenges while suggesting that the United States would be prepared to intervene or assist.

Meanwhile, a report by an American newspaper revealed that hundreds of US special operations forces have recently been deployed to the Middle East, signaling heightened military readiness amid ongoing regional tensions.

The developments come at a time of increased geopolitical strain in the region, with diplomatic efforts intensifying alongside military positioning, raising both hopes for a negotiated settlement and concerns over potential escalation.
