UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Arrives in Pakistan on First Official Visit

At the invitation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, President of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan arrived in Pakistan on Thursday on his first official visit, receiving a grand and historic welcome.

As the UAE president’s aircraft entered Pakistani airspace, Pakistan Air Force fighter jets escorted the plane and presented an aerial salute. Upon landing at Noor Khan Air Base, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, federal ministers and senior officials warmly welcomed the distinguished guest.

A 21-gun salute was presented in honour of the UAE president, followed by a guard of honour, reflecting the deep-rooted ties and mutual respect between the two brotherly nations.

According to a statement issued by the Foreign Office, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan is accompanied by a high-level delegation comprising ministers and senior UAE officials. During the visit, the leadership of both countries will hold discussions on bilateral relations as well as regional and global issues of mutual interest.

The Foreign Office spokesperson said that the visit reflects the longstanding, brotherly and strategic relations between Pakistan and the UAE. The discussions are expected to further strengthen cooperation in key areas including trade, investment, energy, development and regional stability.

During his stay, the UAE president is scheduled to meet President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The meetings are expected to focus on expanding economic partnerships and enhancing collaboration in various sectors.

In view of the high-profile visit, a public holiday has been declared in Islamabad. The Islamabad High Court and Islamabad District Courts will also remain closed on December 26, according to a notification issued by the registrar of the Islamabad High Court.

The visit is being seen as an important milestone in Pakistan-UAE relations and is expected to further deepen strategic, economic and diplomatic cooperation between the two countries.
