The United States Secretary of Defense has provided an update on the ongoing military operation in Iran, asserting that US forces are achieving significant gains. According to the briefing, additional troops are being deployed to the Middle East, and full control of Iran’s airspace is expected within a week.
The Secretary of Defense stated that American forces are conducting intensive attacks across Iran, claiming that the conflict has pushed the country close to collapse. He noted the sinking of an Iranian warship in the Indian Ocean and alleged that Iran’s leader attempted an assassination against President Donald Trump. Investigations into the recent bombing of a school in Iran are ongoing.
Chief of Staff General Dean Kaine added that US forces have gained air control along Iran’s southern coast and are advancing toward internal borders. Missile and drone activity from Iran has reportedly decreased, and the US military maintains sufficient stockpiles of weapons for continued operations.
However, officials cautioned that the war is complex and dangerous, with many potential risks ahead. General Kaine highlighted that Iran’s command and control system has suffered significant damage but emphasized that the duration of the conflict remains uncertain. Questions also remain about whether NATO will invoke Article Five in response to missiles launched toward Turkey.
The briefing underlined the challenges faced by US allies, describing the operation as ongoing and stressing the “heavy burden” of military and strategic coordination in the region. The Secretary and Chief of Staff concluded that while progress has been made, the conflict is far from over, and significant dangers remain.
