Xi Jinping Stresses Taiwan Unification, Global Peace, and China’s Rising Strength

Chinese President Xi Jinping, in his New Year message for 2026, highlighted that the world is experiencing turbulence and regional conflicts, but China has remained on the “right track of history” and is committed to promoting global peace, development, and a shared future.

Xi stressed that Taiwan’s unification with China is unstoppable, emphasizing the strong cultural and familial ties connecting people on both sides of the Taiwan Strait. “The unification of the motherland is the need of the hour,” he said.

He further highlighted China’s economic, scientific, and defense advancements, noting that the country’s economic output is expected to reach 140 trillion yuan this year. Xi concluded his message by extending his best wishes to people from Beijing.
