11 Soldiers Martyred, 40 Civilians Killed in India-Pakistan Clash

At least 11 Pakistani soldiers were martyred and 78 others wounded in the line of duty while repelling India’s “unprovoked and reprehensible dastardly attacks” during the recent escalation, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement issued Tuesday.

The intense military standoff between India and Pakistan erupted after India accused Pakistan of involvement in the Pahalgam attack. Between the night of May 6 and 7, New Delhi launched a series of aggressive air strikes inside Pakistani territory under the codename Operation Sindoor, leading to civilian casualties and massive regional tensions. Pakistan responded with a precision campaign codenamed Operation Bunyanum Marsoos under its military strategy Marka-i-Haq.

According to ISPR, 40 civilians — including 15 children and seven women — were martyred, while 121 sustained injuries during India’s aggression. The total number of injured military personnel has risen to 78, with many still undergoing treatment.

Fallen Heroes

The Pakistan Army confirmed the names of its brave martyrs:

  • Naik Abdul Rehman
  • Lance Naik Dilawar Khan
  • Lance Naik Ikramullah
  • Naik Waqar Khalid
  • Sepoy Muhammad Adeel Akbar
  • Sepoy Nisar

From the Pakistan Air Force, the fallen include:

  • Squadron Leader Usman Yousuf
  • Chief Technician Aurangzeb
  • Senior Technician Najeeb
  • Corporal Technician Farooq
  • Senior Technician Mubashir

“These brave sons of the soil laid down their lives defending the nation’s sovereignty and integrity,” the ISPR said. “Their sacrifice is an eternal symbol of courage, devotion, and patriotism.”

The statement further emphasized that any future aggression against Pakistan would be met with a “swift, full-spectrum, and decisive response,” reaffirming the armed forces’ commitment to safeguarding the homeland.

Operation Bunyanum Marsoos & National Tribute

ISPR praised the effectiveness of Pakistan’s retaliatory strikes, describing them as precise and impactful, successfully deterring further Indian advances.

On the diplomatic front, it was American intervention — led by US President Donald Trump — that deescalated the tension. On Saturday, a ceasefire was announced, putting a halt to the missile exchanges that lasted over a week.

To honor the armed forces' valor and the sacrifices of civilians, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has officially declared May 10 as Youm-e-Marka-i-Haq, a day that will be observed annually to commemorate the success of Operation Bunyanum Marsoos.

“On Friday, May 16, 2025, the nation will bow in gratitude and honor our brave martyrs for achieving magnificent success on the defence front,” PM Shehbaz said in his statement.

Prayers have also been offered for the swift recovery of the wounded. The nation continues to stand in unity with the families of the fallen and the brave soldiers defending Pakistan.
