POLITICS & POLICY MAKING
Former National Assembly Speaker and PTI central leader Asad Qaiser has called on recently resigned Supreme Court judges to step forward and lead a nationwide movement, saying the “entire nation will be with them.”
Speaking at a press conference in Swabi, Qaiser described the resigned judges as heroes of the Pakistani nation who sacrificed privileges in the name of justice. He expressed hope that they will lead efforts for constitutional and democratic reform.
“We pay tribute to the judges who have given up privileges and supported justice,” Qaiser said.
Qaiser also addressed regional stability, emphasizing that Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Iran should prioritize peace and diplomacy over war, urging disputes to be resolved through negotiations rather than conflict.
The PTI leader condemned the recent violence against PTI supporters outside Adiala Jail, criticizing the government’s “fascist attitude” and announced the observance of Black Day on November 21 to protest what he described as oppression, lawlessness, and unconstitutional actions.
He further revealed plans for a national conference against the government, inviting political parties, lawyers, organizations, and media, stressing that all forces committed to democracy must unite.
Commenting on recent constitutional amendments, Qaiser stated that the 26th and 27th amendments do not serve public interest and violate the Constitution, accusing the ruling parties of pursuing self-interest at the expense of democratic principles.
He also criticized the PPP, saying:
“The party that gave Pakistan the 1973 Constitution has today abolished it, and the party that raised the slogan of respecting the vote has made it the most disrespected.”
The remarks come after Supreme Court judges Justice Mansoor Ali Shah and Justice Athar Minallah resigned in recent days, highlighting ongoing tensions between the judiciary and political leadership.
