Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have resolved the long-standing issue concerning the legal status of Rohingya Muslims living in Saudi Arabia, officials said.
The announcement came following a meeting between Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Saudi Ambassador to Pakistan Nawaf bin Saeed Al-Maliki. The discussions covered bilateral relations, enhanced cooperation, and security matters.
The Saudi ambassador condemned the recent terrorist attack in Islamabad, expressing regret over the loss of lives. He also praised Pakistan’s positive efforts in resolving the Rohingya issue and expressed satisfaction with the agreement. A formal agreement will be signed in Saudi Arabia next week.
The meeting further explored ways to strengthen cooperation between the interior ministries of both countries. Ambassador Al-Maliki emphasized his pride in the deep ties between Saudi Arabia and the Pakistani people.
The resolution of this issue is seen as a step forward in enhancing Pakistan-Saudi relations and supporting the protection and legal rights of the Rohingya community.
