The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) Islamabad on Wednesday extended the interim bail of Bushra Bibi, wife of PTI founder Imran Khan, in 12 cases registered in different police stations across the capital over the D-Chowk protest.
The court, presided over by Judge Tahir Abbas Supra, heard a total of 86 applications for interim bail in 15 cases involving PTI leaders and activists.
Prominent PTI figures, including Salman Akram Raja, Sher Afzal Marwat, Ali Bukhari, Rauf Hassan, and former Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Sardar Abdul Qayyum Niazi, appeared before the court. However, Bushra Bibi, Alia Hamza, and Zartaj Gul sought exemptions from appearance.
Investigation Request
The petitioner’s lawyer requested that Bushra Bibi be interrogated inside Adiala Jail. The court was urged to direct the jail superintendent to cooperate with the investigation.
Bail Extensions
- The court extended Bushra Bibi’s remand in three cases until March 7, including a case from the Karachi Company police station until March 12.
- Interim bails for PTI leaders, including Bushra Bibi, Salman Akram Raja, and Ali Bukhari, in the Khanna police station case were extended until March 17.
- Bail extensions for cases registered at Kohsar and Secretariat police stations were also granted until March 17 and March 12, respectively.
The legal challenges stem from the D-Chowk protest and subsequent law and order incidents that led to multiple cases being registered against PTI leaders and activists.
