Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Yahya Afridi chaired two significant meetings on Thursday to improve service delivery and expand access to justice in the country.
The first meeting, attended by Justices Ayesha A. Malik and Bilal Hassan, as well as the Registrar of the Supreme Court Muhammad Salim Khan, focused on the progress of various reforms within the judicial system. These included advancements in Information Technology (IT), improvements in case management, the optimisation of human resources, capacity-building initiatives, and training programs aimed at strengthening the judicial workforce. Additionally, the meeting explored the potential for broader public consultation to enhance transparency and access to the justice system.
In the second meeting, the Chief Justice addressed the growing backlog of tax-related cases in the country. Representatives from the tax bar, along with the legal team from the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), participated in the discussions aimed at formulating strategies to expedite the resolution of pending tax cases and ensure the timely delivery of justice in the taxation sector.
These efforts reflect the CJP’s ongoing commitment to improving the efficiency of Pakistan's judiciary and providing citizens with better access to justice.
