Decision Pending on PTI Rally Permission at Minar-e-Pakistan

A final decision regarding the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) rally scheduled for February 8 at Minar-e-Pakistan remains uncertain. The Lahore District Commissioner (DC) Office is currently in deliberations over the matter.

The Lahore High Court had directed the district administration to resolve PTI's request by 5 pm today. Despite the deadline expiring, the decision has yet to be finalized.

High Court Proceedings

Justice Farooq Haider of the Lahore High Court presided over the hearing this morning. PTI's Chief Organizer Punjab, Alia Hamza, had filed the petition seeking permission for the rally.

Justice Haider emphasized that under Article 10A, the request could either be accepted or rejected, with no room for ambiguity. Punjab Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtar Zaman assured the court of compliance with the order.

Security Concerns and Alternatives

Sources suggest that the district administration may reject the rally request due to security concerns, particularly given the ongoing Champions Trophy preparations and fears of potential law and order disruptions. Authorities are reportedly considering alternate locations for the event.

PTI Representation at DC Office

Interestingly, no senior PTI leaders, including Alia Hamza, were present at the DC office during the ongoing deliberations. Two ILF lawyers were present, with senior lawyer Ishtiaq Khan called to the office for further legal representation.

The outcome of this decision holds significant importance for PTI's political activities, with legal recourse uncertain if the request is denied.
