Eight Lives Lost in Separate Incidents in North and South Waziristan and Lakki Marwat

In a tragic series of events, eight individuals, including five security officials and three children, were killed in separate incidents in the districts of Lakki Marwat, North Waziristan, and South Waziristan on Tuesday.

North Waziristan Gunfight

Captain Muhammad Osama bin Arshad, 24, from Rawalpindi, was martyred during an exchange of fire between security forces and militants in North Waziristan. According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the security forces targeted the militants effectively, killing two. A sanitisation operation is underway to eliminate any remaining threats.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur expressed their grief over the martyrdom of Captain Osama, praising his sacrifice and reaffirming the commitment to eradicating terrorism.

South Waziristan Attack

In South Waziristan, three soldiers were martyred during an intense exchange of fire with militants. The ISPR identified them as Sepoy Asadullah, 30, from Matiari; Sepoy Muhammad Sufyan, 28, from Dera Ismail Khan; and Non-Combatant Bearer Zain Ali, 24, from Bahawalnagar. Twelve others were injured in the attack.

Lakki Marwat Ambush

In Lakki Marwat, Head Constable Saadullah and his three young nephews lost their lives when unidentified assailants opened fire on their vehicle near Kurram Bridge on the Indus Highway. The family was en route to Peshawar for medical treatment when the attackers struck. Saadullah, 37, and his nephews — Abdul Rehman, 8; Sufyan, 12; and Sayyam, 12 — died en route to the hospital. Another minor, Farmanullah, was injured and transferred to a Peshawar hospital.

Saadullah was stationed at Shaheed Haibat Ali Khan Police Station in Darra Pezu and hailed from Titterkhel town. Following the incident, a large police contingent conducted a search operation for the attackers. The cop's body was taken to the police lines for funeral prayers before being transported to Titterkhel for burial with full official honors.

Additional Incident

In a separate incident in Tappi, North Waziristan, three women were injured when a mortar shell struck a police officer's house. The injured were taken to the hospital for treatment.

Conclusion

These incidents highlight the ongoing security challenges in the region. The sacrifices of the security personnel are a stark reminder of the continuous fight against terrorism and the need for enhanced security measures to protect civilians.
