Father Kills Four Children, Dies by Suicide in Swabi Over Domestic Dispute

Swabi: In a tragic incident, a father fatally shot his four children before taking his own life in the Yar Hussain area of Swabi district. Police suspect the killings were driven by a domestic dispute after the man's wife left the family home.

Yar Hussain Station House Officer (SHO) Abdul Wali confirmed that locals alerted the police upon discovering the bodies. "The father received a bullet wound to the head, while the Rescue 1122 team shifted the bodies to the tehsil headquarters hospital," he said.

The deceased were identified as Saiful Islam, 42, and his children: Ziaul Islam, 12; Abdur Rehman, 10; Sana Umar, 8; and a two-year-old girl whose name has yet to be confirmed.

SHO Wali revealed that the man’s wife had left for her parents' home, which may have contributed to the tragedy. A jirga member, Awwal Sher Khan, stated that the father had sent his two-year-old daughter to his wife in an attempt to reconcile, but she returned the child. This rejection reportedly intensified his frustration, culminating in the incident.

Police have registered a first information report (FIR) and initiated an investigation to uncover more details about the circumstances surrounding the deaths.

This tragedy echoes similar incidents in Pakistan. In December 2023, a man in Bahawalnagar killed his wife and daughter before taking his life over an 'honour'-related dispute. In May 2024, Faisalabad witnessed a man killing his two wives and four children before committing suicide.

Authorities urge families to seek help through counseling and community support to prevent such devastating outcomes.
