Federal Cabinet Forms Committee to Consider New Currency Notes, Reviews Key Policies

The federal cabinet, in a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday, approved the formation of a cabinet committee to consider the new design of currency notes, as Pakistan moves to modernize its banknotes with the assistance of international experts.

The meeting reviewed the country’s political and economic situation and took important decisions on policy and administrative matters. The Ministry of Finance briefed the cabinet on the new currency notes issued by the State Bank of Pakistan, highlighting that the designs are being developed in line with modern requirements.

The cabinet also considered proposals for the establishment of new medical colleges, reviewed the Private Hajj Policy 2027-2030, and directed the draft policy—covering third-party registration and verification of private Hajj operators—to the Hajj Policy Committee for further consideration.

Additionally, the cabinet ratified decisions from the previous meetings of the Cabinet Committee on Energy and the Economic Coordination Committee, ensuring continuity in policy implementation.

In a special address, PM Shehbaz Sharif strongly condemned recent terrorist attacks in India’s Balochistan, paying tribute to the sacrifices of Pakistani forces and emphasizing that operations against terrorists and their facilitators will continue until terrorism is eradicated.
