A federal cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif addressed several key national issues, including the controversy surrounding a former federal minister's statement about PIA pilots and its impact on the national airline.

Key Points:

·       PIA Pilots' Statement Under Review:
The Ministry of Law and Justice briefed the cabinet, asserting that the former federal minister’s exaggerated statement about PIA negatively affected the airline's image and caused a serious financial loss to the national treasury.

·       Fact-Finding Committee Approved:
A committee will be formed to investigate and estimate the losses caused by the controversial statement.

·       Environmental and Trade Initiatives:
The cabinet ratified the charter of the Middle East Green Initiative, aiming to restore 200 million hectares of land and plant 50 billion trees. An agreement with the European Union on tariff rates quotas was also approved.

·       Educational Reforms:
A 25% reduction in provincial quotas for medical and dental colleges was approved to streamline admissions.

·       Judicial and Administrative Reforms:
The cabinet approved the reorganization of Accountability Court III in Islamabad.

·       Karachi Port Trust Appointment:
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif directed the immediate appointment of the Chairman for Karachi Port Trust.
