Field Marshal Baton Conferred on COAS Asim Munir

Islamabad — In a historic ceremony held at the Presidential Palace, Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir was awarded the prestigious Baton of Field Marshal by President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

The ceremony marked a symbolic and strategic recognition of General Munir’s military leadership and service. Senior civil and military officials, political leaders including Nawaz Sharif and Ishaq Dar, foreign diplomats, and parliamentarians attended the prestigious event.

Presidential Tribute:

President Zardari stated:

“This is a proud moment for the entire nation. Field Marshal Asim Munir led from the front in the battle for truth. His leadership showed the world our capability to defend our homeland.”

The president emphasized that the entire nation stands behind its armed forces, and praised the courage of Pakistan’s defenders.

Prime Minister's Remarks:

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif lauded the Army Chief's leadership, saying:

“Field Marshal Asim Munir's passion and determination in a tense situation were exemplary. His leadership brought an unprecedented and historic victory against the enemy.”

Sharif credited the military’s strength and strategy for forcing the enemy to retreat, reaffirming the central role of military leadership in safeguarding national sovereignty.

National Unity on Display:

The event saw representation from all provinces, including the chief ministers and governors of Punjab, Sindh, KP, Balochistan, and Gilgit-Baltistan — underlining the unity behind the armed forces and the recognition of military achievements across Pakistan.
