Despite these concerns, FIFA has yet to address the issue, prompting FIFPRO to escalate the matter through legal channels.

FIFPRO's legal claim challenges FIFA's unilateral decisions regarding the International Match Calendar, specifically targeting the creation and scheduling of the FIFA Club World Cup 2025. The player unions argue that such decisions violate players' rights under the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights and may contravene EU competition law.

The case, to be heard in Belgian courts, seeks to uphold players' rights and advocate for fair treatment within the footballing landscape.
