The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) on Saturday confirmed the killing of five terrorists during a joint operation with other law enforcement agencies in the Dhabar Pahari area of Duki district, Balochistan.

According to the CTD, the slain militants belonged to a banned organization and were responsible for orchestrating attacks on coal mines, security forces, and innocent civilians. Their bodies have been shifted to Duki Civil Hospital for identification and further investigation.

The operation is part of a broader strategy by Pakistan’s security forces to intensify anti-terror efforts amid a growing wave of militant attacks, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. March alone saw more than 100 militant attacks across the country, marking the highest monthly total since November 2014, as per data from the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS).

Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti praised the CTD, Frontier Constabulary (FC), and other law enforcement agencies for their successful operation. "State institutions are fully active against terrorism," he stated. He further asserted that all conspiracies to destabilize Balochistan would be foiled and that the government would take strict action against those facilitating terrorists.

"Anti-peace elements will not be tolerated under any circumstances," Bugti declared. "The journey towards peace and development in Balochistan will continue, and the lives and property of citizens will be safeguarded at all costs."

The operation comes on the heels of a recent tragic attack in Mastung, Balochistan, where a blast targeted a vehicle of the Balochistan Constabulary, resulting in the martyrdom of three policemen and injuries to 20 others.

Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir also reaffirmed the nation’s resolve to eliminate terrorism. “Do Pakistan’s enemies think that a handful of terrorists can decide the fate of Pakistan?” he questioned, asserting that "even ten generations of terrorists cannot harm Balochistan and Pakistan."

Pakistan’s ranking as the second most-affected country in the Global Terrorism Index 2025 highlights the gravity of the challenge, with terrorism-related deaths increasing by 45% in the past year to 1,081 fatalities.

The successful CTD operation in Duki stands as a resolute message: the state remains unyielding in its mission to secure peace and root out terrorism from every corner of the country.
