Four ships loaded with large quantities of petrol have arrived at Port Qasim following the recent increase in petroleum prices in Pakistan, according to port authorities.
Officials confirmed that the vessels collectively carry around 250 million litres of petrol, and the unloading process has already begun to ensure a stable supply of fuel across the country.
According to port officials, the transfer of approximately 37,000 tons of petrol from one ship has already been completed.
Meanwhile, the unloading operation from another vessel is currently underway, with authorities transferring around 50,000 tons of petrol to storage facilities.
Officials further stated that additional shipments are expected to arrive over the next few days to strengthen fuel reserves.
A third vessel carrying about 55,000 tons of petrol is scheduled to anchor at Port Qasim on March 12, while another ship will arrive on March 13 carrying around 34,000 tons of petrol.
Authorities said the arrival of these shipments will help maintain adequate fuel supply in the country at a time when demand remains high.
The development comes shortly after the government increased the prices of petroleum products.
The federal government recently raised the prices of petrol and diesel by Rs55 per litre, citing global market trends and rising import costs.
Energy sector officials say the new shipments will help ensure that fuel supply chains remain uninterrupted despite the price adjustments and fluctuations in the international oil market.
