Govt Dismisses Claims of Mistreatment in AJK as “Baseless Propaganda”

The federal government has dismissed reports circulating on social media alleging mistreatment of citizens in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, describing them as “baseless and politically motivated propaganda.”

Speaking at a joint news conference, Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Tariq Fazal Chaudhry said that certain elements were spreading false information to malign state institutions, particularly the Islamabad Police.

“After the defeat in the Battle of Haq, the enemy cannot tolerate Pakistan’s growing honor,” said the minister. “Those spreading propaganda will soon be exposed. The public is urged not to believe or share unverified information.”

Tariq Fazal added that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is personally committed to addressing the concerns of the people of Azad Kashmir, noting that a special committee has already been dispatched to Muzaffarabad to assess the situation.

“Kashmir is Pakistan’s jugular vein,” he stated. “We will continue to extend every kind of support to the Kashmiri people. Pakistan’s love for Kashmir is unshakable and known to the entire world.”

The minister also claimed that hostile elements, funded by external actors, were deliberately spreading misinformation to sow discord between Pakistan and the people of Azad Kashmir.

Meanwhile, Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry echoed the government’s stance, emphasizing that the Islamabad Police is a professional and disciplined force.

“The sacrifices of Islamabad Police for peace and security cannot be overlooked,” he said. “Old videos have been reshared on social media in a misleading manner to create chaos. There is no discrimination against any nationality in Islamabad.”

Talal Chaudhry called on citizens to act responsibly and verify content before sharing it online. “The relationship between Pakistan and Kashmir is built on trust and brotherhood, and no one will be allowed to weaken it,” he asserted.

The government’s statement comes amid an online campaign alleging human rights violations in Azad Kashmir — claims officials say are part of a broader misinformation drive.
