Naqvi Demands Apology from KP CM Over “Defamatory” Remarks on Security Forces

Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has issued a strong condemnation of the recent defamatory remarks made by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi against Pakistan’s security forces, calling them “baseless, irresponsible, and deeply disrespectful.”

In an official statement, the minister said that no patriotic Pakistani could ever make such statements against the country’s armed forces — the same forces, he noted, that have sacrificed their lives to ensure peace and stability across Pakistan.

“Baseless and fabricated statements about the brave sons of Pakistan are intolerable,” Naqvi said. “The Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has tried to please our eternal enemy by resorting to insults.”

The interior minister emphasized that the nation and the world acknowledge the unmatched sacrifices made by Pakistan’s security forces in the fight against terrorism and extremism.

“The officers and soldiers of our security forces have cultivated peace by sacrificing their precious lives,” he said. “Yet, the Chief Minister of the province where these sacrifices were greatest has crossed all limits of ingratitude.”

Naqvi added that such rhetoric not only disrespects the martyrs but also emboldens adversaries seeking to divide the nation. “No patriot can even think of making such a statement,” he said.

Calling for accountability, Naqvi urged the KP Chief Minister to apologize to the nation for his remarks, which he said amount to incitement against the country’s defenders.

The controversy erupted after Sohail Afridi alleged during a press talk that security forces had “violated the sanctity of mosques,” comments that have drawn widespread condemnation from political leaders, journalists, and religious scholars alike.
