Hanif Abbasi Alleges Drug Presence in Imran Khan’s Jail Cell; National Assembly Speech Sparks Uproar

Pakistan Muslim League (N) leader Hanif Abbasi made serious allegations against Imran Khan, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI). Abbasi claimed that drugs, specifically cocaine and heroin, could still be found in Khan’s prison cell if an investigator were to search it today.
Addressing the ongoing debate about prison conditions, Abbasi criticized PTI members for complaining about the lack of facilities in jail. He mentioned that despite being in a 90-meter long barrack, Imran Khan enjoys privileges such as breakfast from a special hotel in Islamabad. Abbasi emphasized that prison is not meant to be a luxury and reminded the assembly that he and his party members had served their time "manfully" without complaining.
His remarks immediately caused a stir, with members of the Pakistan Sunni Ittehad Council raising slogans both in favor of and against the PTI founder. The uproar in the house led the Speaker of the National Assembly to expunge Abbasi's comments from the official record and to adjourn the session until 5 p.m. on Monday.
This incident adds to the ongoing tensions between PTI and PML-N, highlighting the deep political divides in the country.
