POLITICS & POLICY MAKING
Islamabad: Imran Khan, the chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has declined an offer to be shifted to his residence in Banigala, according to a statement by Faisal Chaudhry, a member of PTI’s legal team.
Speaking to media outside Adiala Jail, Chaudhry emphasized that Khan had made it clear he would not discuss his own release unless all PTI workers currently detained were also freed.
Chaudhry further stated that Khan’s position remained firm — he would not take part in active politics until the release of all political workers and an end to what he described as "bogus cases" against him. "All the cases registered against the PTI founder are bogus," Chaudhry added.
Meanwhile, PTI leader Shaukat Yousafzai issued a warning to the government, stating that failure to meet the party’s demands would lead to continued civil disobedience.
Yousafzai emphasized that the government had until January 30 to address PTI’s key demands, which include the release of innocent political workers and the formation of a judicial commission to investigate the incidents on May 9 and November 26.
These developments signal a continued standoff between the ruling government and PTI as both sides remain at an impasse over political negotiations and the ongoing crisis surrounding Khan’s detention.
