Iran Offers New Conditions to Reopen Strait of Hormuz, Axios Reports

Iran has put forward a new proposal to the United States aimed at reopening the strategic Strait of Hormuz and bringing an end to the ongoing conflict, according to a report.

Citing a US official and sources familiar with the matter, the report said Tehran’s plan focuses on restoring maritime traffic through the key waterway while deferring discussions on its nuclear programme to a later phase.

The proposal is seen as an attempt to break the current deadlock by prioritising immediate de-escalation and stabilising global energy flows, which have been heavily impacted by disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz.

The waterway, through which a significant portion of the world’s oil and gas supplies passes, has remained a focal point of tensions, affecting international markets and raising concerns over supply chains.

While the offer signals a possible diplomatic opening, major differences between the two sides remain unresolved, particularly over nuclear issues and broader strategic concerns.
