During an official visit to Iraq, Pakistan Air Force (PAF) Chief Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu held high-level meetings with the Iraqi Air Force, with discussions focusing on defense cooperation, joint training, and capacity building.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Air Chief Marshal Sidhu was received with a guard of honor at the Iraqi Air Force Headquarters, followed by a meeting with the Iraqi Air Force Commander.
The discussions covered bilateral defense and air cooperation, exploring opportunities for joint exercises, training programs, and capacity enhancement. The PAF Chief assured full support in training the Iraqi Air Force personnel and strengthening operational ties.
Highlighting the religious, cultural, and historical connections between Pakistan and Iraq, both sides agreed to continue fostering collaboration through joint exercises and defense initiatives.
During the visit, the Iraqi Air Force Chief praised the professionalism and operational capabilities of the PAF, expressing particular interest in the JF-17 Thunder fighter aircraft and Pakistan’s Super Mushtaq training aircraft.
The ISPR stated that Iraq also appreciated Pakistan’s contributions to promoting regional stability, and the visit is expected to further consolidate air and defense relations between the two countries.
