LEGAL

Residents of Karachi’s Defense area have formally requested the Defence Housing Authority (DHA) to vacate the house of Armaghan Qureshi, the main accused in the Mustafa Amir murder case.
In a letter addressed to the DHA administration, neighbors accused Armaghan’s family, led by Kamran Qureshi, of violating DHA regulations and engaging in activities that disturb the peace and safety of the locality.
Allegations Against the Qureshi Family
The residents outlined multiple concerns in their complaint:
- Violation of Animal Laws: The letter highlights that between 2023 and 2024, Kamran Qureshi illegally kept three lions at his residence, violating relevant wildlife laws.
- Disturbance & Harassment: Neighbors reported that loud music is played throughout the night, disrupting their peace. Furthermore, Armaghan Qureshi has reportedly employed over 100 private security guards, who allegedly harass women and domestic workers in the area.
- Police Raid & Security Threats: According to the letter, on February 8, police raided Kamran Asfar Qureshi’s residence. During the raid, gunfire erupted from inside the house, and illegal weapons were recovered. The incident left local residents confined to their homes, further raising safety concerns.
The residents have urged DHA to evict Kamran Qureshi’s family and verify the real owner of the property.
DHA and Law Enforcement Response
Responding to the matter, DIG South Asad Raza confirmed that the actual owner of the house is currently in Dubai. Authorities have written to the UAE Consul General to contact the owner and inform them about the situation.
“Once we establish contact with the property owner and inform them of the residents’ concerns and the recent raid, we will move forward with the legal process to vacate the house,” said DIG South.
As the investigation into the Mustafa Amir murder case continues, the pressure on DHA and law enforcement to take action against illegal activities in high-profile areas like Defense remains strong.
