Significant progress has been made in the Mustafa Amir murder case, as accused Shiraz Hussain has confessed to his involvement, detailing how the victim was tortured and later burned. The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) has now made his interrogation report part of the prosecution file.
Confession and Investigation Details
According to the interrogation report, Shiraz Hussain admitted that on January 6, he went to Armaghan’s house after being called by Mustafa Amir. The three of them consumed weed, after which an argument broke out between Mustafa and Armaghan. Armaghan allegedly attacked Mustafa with an American baton, inflicting serious injuries on his knees and head.
Following the assault, the victim was placed in the trunk of his car and taken to Balochistan, where Armaghan set the vehicle on fire after dousing it in petrol. Shiraz confessed that he actively assisted Armaghan and can identify the crime scene. He further admitted that Mustafa’s bloodstains were cleaned by Armaghan’s employees.
Court’s Frustration Over Investigation
Despite these developments, the South Judicial Magistrate’s Court in Karachi expressed anger at the investigating officer, as witness statements could not be recorded. The court criticized the officer for failing to notify the accused’s lawyers before recording witness testimonies.
The court has now issued notices to the accused’s lawyers and instructed that witnesses appear again tomorrow.
