A complete shutter-down strike was observed in Naudero on the call of the Urban Action Committee, as frustration grows over the non-arrest of the killers of businessman Santosh Kumar, who was murdered 27 days ago.
The strike received widespread support from political, social, religious, and trade organizations, bringing all business activities in the city to a halt. Major commercial areas such as Allahwaro Chowk, Panj Gali Chowk, Saddar Chowk, Station Road, Larkana Road, Shahi Bazaar, Resham Bazaar, Sarafa Bazaar, grocery stores, general stores, and mobile markets remained closed in protest.
Protesters Condemn Police Inaction
During the strike, protest leaders expressed deep frustration over the lack of progress in the murder case. They stated that Santosh Kumar was killed in broad daylight, yet the police have failed to arrest the killers, despite 27 days passing since the crime.
"The IG Sindh and the provincial government have taken notice, but the police’s performance remains zero. Only arrests have been announced, but no real action has been taken," the protest leaders said.
They demanded the immediate arrest of those responsible and called for swift justice for the deceased's family.
Police Assure Action in Two Weeks
Following the intense protest, ASP Larkana Abdullah and DSP Naudero Fahad Arshad Mughal met with the Urban Action Committee and the victim’s family. The officials requested two more weeks to complete the investigation and arrest the accused.
In response to this assurance, the Urban Action Committee withdrew its call for a protest sit-in in front of Naudero police station, giving the authorities additional time to take action.
Growing Public Discontent
The murder of Santosh Kumar has sparked widespread anger and raised concerns over law and order in the region. If the police fail to fulfill their commitment, activists have warned of more aggressive protests in the coming weeks.
