POLITICS & POLICY MAKING
Pakistan’s Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif on Tuesday said the government is open to talks with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), but the party is refusing negotiations and resorting to verbal abuse.
Speaking to the media, Khawaja Asif stated that the Prime Minister has offered dialogue three to four times, but PTI has not responded positively. “We are ready for talks, but PTI is abusing us,” he remarked.
Khawaja Asif emphasized that political power is temporary, urging all sides to engage in constructive dialogue rather than confrontational rhetoric.
The minister also highlighted recent developments regarding accountability within the military, saying that the agency held the former DG ISI accountable, and credit for initiating internal accountability goes to the current military leadership.
Khawaja Asif’s remarks come amid ongoing tensions between the government and PTI, as the ruling administration seeks to resolve political disputes through dialogue while maintaining law and order.
