Pakistan Rejects Israel’s Recognition of Somaliland, Opposes Any Displacement of Palestinians

Pakistan has strongly rejected Israel’s announcement recognizing the self-proclaimed Republic of Somaliland, declaring the move illegal and unacceptable under international law, while also condemning any attempt to displace the Palestinian people from their homeland.

The rejection was voiced by Pakistan’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Usman Jadoon, while addressing an emergency session of the UN Security Council convened following Israel’s controversial announcement.

Addressing the council, Jadoon said that Israel’s move not only violates international law but also threatens regional stability and undermines the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Somalia.

He informed the Security Council that Israel was reportedly seeking to deport Palestinians from Gaza to Somaliland, a move Pakistan categorically rejects.

“Pakistan rejects any attempt to displace the Palestinian people,” Jadoon said, stressing that forced displacement violates international humanitarian law and fundamental human rights.

He urged the international community to resolve the Palestinian issue through a just and lasting two-state solution, in line with relevant UN resolutions and international consensus.

The Pakistani envoy acknowledged that the Somali government is taking steps to stabilise the country, but termed Israel’s actions as irresponsible and an attempt to fuel further instability in the region.

“This move is a clear violation of international law,” he said, reaffirming Pakistan’s full support for the sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity of Somalia.

Israel recently announced its official recognition of Somaliland as an independent and sovereign state — a declaration that has been widely rejected by Muslim countries, who have expressed serious concern over its legal, political and regional implications.
