Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Accepts Bannu Aman Jirga Demands; Apex Committee to Review

Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has accepted all the demands put forth by the Bannu Aman Jirga, following a meeting with the group's representatives. The Chief Minister’s decision is set to be reviewed by the Apex Committee, which will also deliberate on the formation of a commission to address the Bannu incident.

According to official sources, the Chief Minister has assured the Aman Jirga members that the demands will be presented to the Apex Committee for further consideration. Gandapur emphasized that the ISPR has clarified that Operation Resolve is a strategy, not an operational initiative. The search operations will be conducted by the police and Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD), with security forces available for support if required.

Gandapur outlined several measures to enhance security and efficiency in Bannu, including:

Increased patrolling by police.

Enhanced capabilities for the police and CTD, including new recruitment and additional vehicles.

Information Adviser Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif, stated that the Apex Committee, which is a key body for national security matters, will review the Bannu incident and consider forming a dedicated commission. He assured that anti-terrorism measures would be strengthened not just in Bannu but across the entire province.

The Bannu Aman Jirga, which met with the Chief Minister yesterday, had previously announced they would continue their sit-in until a decision from the Apex Committee was made. The Chief Minister's acceptance of their demands marks a significant step toward addressing their concerns and improving security in the region.
