Umar Ayub Resigns as PTI General Secretary; Salman Akram Raja Appointed as Successor

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) General Secretary Umar Ayub has officially resigned from his position, with Salman Akram Raja nominated as his successor. The resignation was accepted by PTI Chairman Imran Khan on September 4, although Ayub initially submitted his resignation on June 22.

According to sources, the restructuring within the party involves a clear separation between parliamentary and practical political affairs. Opposition leader Umar Ayub and Senator Shibli Faraz will now lead the parliamentary team, while Salman Akram Raja will assume the role of PTI General Secretary.

In addition to this change, a think tank led by Rauf Hasan will be formed to address government performance issues and electoral matters, including the preparation of a white paper.

Umar Ayub has expressed his commitment to continuing his work as a PTI member and has urged party workers to ensure the success of the upcoming Islamabad rally.

Meanwhile, Barrister Gohar, Chairman PTI, has stated he is unaware of Salman Akram Raja’s appointment as Secretary General, indicating potential internal confusion about the new leadership structure.
