KP CM Sohail Afridi Announces ‘Founder PTI Liberation Force’ for Imran Khan’s Release

Sohail Afridi, the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, on Wednesday announced the formation of a new force aimed at campaigning for the release of Imran Khan, the founding chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

Speaking to the media outside the Supreme Court of Pakistan, Afridi said he had been assigned responsibility for leading a street movement by the party’s founder. He alleged that court orders were being disregarded and that Imran Khan’s personal doctors were not being granted access to examine him.

“I announce the Founder PTI Liberation Force,” Afridi declared, adding that the force would be formally registered and would launch what he described as a peaceful struggle.

According to the chief minister, members of the force will take an oath on February 22 in Peshawar immediately after Eid. He stated that the organisation would operate under a structured chain of command, with leadership responsibilities assigned by Imran Khan himself.

Afridi emphasised that preparations would precede any mobilisation. “We will first prepare and then fight,” he said, adding that the struggle would focus on the supremacy of democracy, the constitution and a free media.

Responding to a question about internal party criticism, Afridi remarked that those within PTI seeking his removal should remember that “honour and humiliation are given by Allah.” He further suggested that critics consult the sisters of the PTI founder regarding any message related to his position.

The announcement comes amid continued political tensions and legal proceedings involving the former prime minister, as PTI leaders intensify calls for his release.
