KP CM Vows to Defeat Terrorism and Restore Peace “At Any Cost”

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi on Wednesday reaffirmed his government’s commitment to defeating terrorism and restoring lasting peace in the province, declaring that the fight would continue with “faith, courage and determination.”

Addressing a joint gathering of police personnel and civil officers in Peshawar, the chief minister said the security situation in KP remained “extraordinary,” noting that the province had faced the menace of terrorism for nearly four decades.

Afridi praised the police force for its resilience, stating that officers had fought terrorism “bravely for 21 years despite limited resources,” adding that the sacrifices of KP Police were a source of pride for the entire nation.

‘We Will Restore Peace in KP’

The chief minister reiterated his pledge to restore peace “under any circumstances,” announcing that the provincial government was rapidly upgrading the police force with bulletproof vehicles, modern weapons, anti-drone systems, and advanced technology on an emergency basis.

“Lack of resources will not be allowed to become an obstacle in the path of security,” he said. “Terrorism will be defeated with faith, courage and determination.”

He also commended the bravery of police officers, saying they were fighting not only for public safety but also for “the pleasure of Allah Almighty and the interest of the people.”

Zero Tolerance for Corruption, No Political Interference

CM Afridi stressed that his government would maintain zero tolerance for corruption and emphasized that political interference in administrative matters would not be allowed.

“There will be no political interference in the affairs of officers, but results will have to be given,” he said, adding that government officers would be evaluated strictly through performance indicators.

Justice System Must Improve

Highlighting broader governance concerns, Afridi remarked that the institutions responsible for providing justice were not meeting expectations, which he said worsened public frustration.

He urged officials to work according to the vision of the PTI founder, prioritising public welfare and ensuring that decisions were made solely in the interest of the people.

“We have to provide relief to the people… we have to make decisions for the people,” he said.

The chief minister’s strong remarks come amid a surge in terrorist attacks targeting police and security forces across KP. Authorities say intensified counter-terrorism operations and modernisation of the police force are central to the province’s strategy to stabilise the region.
