The Sessions Court in Lahore has dismissed the interim bail application of Khawaja Aqeel alias Gogi Butt in connection with the Amir Balaj murder case, citing non-compliance and the accused’s failure to appear before the court.
The case was heard by Additional and Sessions Judge Najaf Haider, who noted that Gogi Butt did not appear after the expiry of his interim bail. During the proceedings, the defense counsel requested the court to adjourn the hearing to allow time for his client’s appearance — a request that was initially accepted.
However, when the case was taken up again, the accused still failed to appear, prompting the court to dismiss the interim bail application on grounds of non-appearance.
According to court documents, Gogi Butt had approached the Sessions Court seeking protection from arrest in the murder case of Amir Balaj, registered at Chohang Police Station. In his plea, the accused claimed that the police had nominated him in the case due to personal enmity, maintaining that he had no connection to the incident.
Despite these claims, the court found no grounds to extend his interim relief and dismissed the bail application, effectively paving the way for possible arrest by the police.
The Amir Balaj murder case remains under investigation, with authorities yet to finalize the charge sheet. The rejection of Gogi Butt’s bail marks a key development in the ongoing probe into the high-profile case.
