POLITICS & POLICY MAKING
Federal Law Minister Azam Nazir Tarar on Thursday highlighted the importance of delivering fair and speedy justice following the recent constitutional amendments, stressing that judges must act in the interest of the people rather than personal egos.
Speaking at a press event, Tarar clarified, “Judges provide justice in courts, not in royal courts. Their duty is to protect the rights of citizens, not to satisfy personal egos.”
He called on the bar and political opposition to focus on public welfare rather than political gains, stating that rallies should not use children as shields and that solutions must be sought within parliament.
Referring to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Law Minister stressed that the province remains heavily affected by terrorism and that cooperation from all stakeholders is vital to ensure the safety of the people.
He also underscored the importance of referring convicted persons to court procedures and noted that the capital has never been attacked, highlighting the stability maintained in Islamabad.
Looking to the future, Tarar announced plans to establish a state-of-the-art training center for young lawyers and emphasized strengthening the federation through the Federal Constitutional Court.
He concluded by urging institutions and citizens alike to collaborate for the establishment of a transparent, efficient, and speedy justice system, stressing that national progress depends on cooperation and fairness.
