Light rain on Monday morning has caused significant traffic disruptions across various parts of Karachi. The Karachi Traffic Police have issued a series of precautionary measures for commuters to navigate the slippery roads safely.
According to a statement posted on X, drivers and motorcyclists are advised to reduce their speed due to the wet conditions. The police cautioned against sudden braking and recommended that motorcyclists stick to the left side of the road while commuting.
By 11 a.m., the Karachi Traffic Police reported that traffic flow had been restored on several key routes, including Teen Hatti to Gurumandar, Chowrangi No.1 to Lasbela, Sharea Faisal to other city parts, and Rashid Minhas Road to Drigh Road.
Earlier updates indicated specific areas still experiencing traffic issues. At 10:52 a.m., it was reported that rainwater had submerged the first and second lanes of the road in front of Mateen Food Centre near Five Star Chowrangi in North Nazimabad, significantly affecting traffic flow. Traffic was being redirected to the third lane and service lane, causing delays.
Traffic flow was also restored on Bagh-e-Korangi Road between Singer Chowrangi and Shah Faisal Colony by 10:36 a.m. However, both sides of the road remained closed for traffic between Fawara Chowk and Thana Street. The alternative routes provided diverted traffic from Fawara Chowk to Zainab Market and Deen Muhammad Wafai Road, while traffic from Thana Street was rerouted to M.R. Kiyani Chowrangi.
At 9:40 a.m., traffic from Hasan Square was diverted to University Road via Hasan Bridge due to depressions caused by work done by the Karachi Sewage and Water Board (KWSB).
Additionally, sewerage water overflowing in front of Rado Bakery in Gulistan-e-Johar necessitated diverting traffic to a one-way road on the turn from Awami Colony to Rado Bakery.
The Karachi Traffic Police continue to monitor the situation and provide updates to ensure the safety and smooth flow of traffic for commuters.
