POLITICS & POLICY MAKING
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has reaffirmed that only the original owners will retain possession of land across the province, urging citizens to approach their local Deputy Commissioner’s (DC) Office for land or property claims. She said that decisions regarding possession will be made within days.
The statement came during a meeting chaired by Maryam Nawaz, where officials briefed her on the effective implementation of the Property Ordinance. The briefing highlighted that 105 families regained their ownership rights within just 48 hours. Going forward, cases involving women’s land ownership will be given top priority.
Maryam Nawaz emphasised that the decision regarding land ownership would be actionable, not just on paper. “Only the original owner will have possession of every marla, every kanal, and every acre of Punjab,” she said.
The Chief Minister also made it clear that once a decision is made, possession will be given immediately, and no recommendations will be accepted in place of actual possession. Citizens are encouraged to submit their applications to their DC offices for verification and prompt resolution.
This move is part of the Punjab government’s broader efforts to resolve longstanding property disputes and ensure rightful ownership across the province.
