Police in Karachi have arrested a notorious domestic worker known as “Millionaire Aunt” Mehreen from the Defence area, accused of drugging her employer with green tea and stealing Rs 6.5 million worth of jewelry, cash, and valuables.

The arrest was made during a raid conducted by Ferozabad police, following a months-long technical investigation into a case registered in December 2024. According to police, the victim and complainant, Shaukat Mahmood, and his family identified the accused upon her arrest.

"She had been using fake identities to secure domestic work in affluent homes and would disappear after robbing her employers," said an investigative officer.

🔹 Decade-Long Criminal Record

Police revealed that Mehreen, originally from Faisalabad, has a history of theft spanning Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi. Investigators say she has been involved in domestic thefts since 2017, using aliases to escape detection.

·       25 cases have been registered against her in Lahore alone.

·       She has served multiple jail terms, including in Islamabad, where she gained media attention after being awarded by a former prime minister for her sewing skills while serving time.

🔹 Clever Tactics, Major Loots

Investigators say Mehreen spiked her employer’s green tea, then escaped with high-value items. She has allegedly looted crores of rupees from multiple homes in Clifton, Guzri, Defence, and District East.

“Her method involved establishing trust over months, then executing carefully planned robberies. We’re now tracing her accomplices and recovering stolen items,” police added.

The Defence police have updated the FIR to include her arrest, while further charges from other districts may follow.

🔹 Public Reaction & Warnings

The case has renewed concern over the lack of background checks and the vulnerability of households hiring domestic staff without verification.

Authorities are advising Karachi residents to vet domestic help thoroughly, report suspicious activity, and coordinate with local police stations for security clearance procedures.
