The National Assembly convened to discuss the ongoing US and Israeli attacks on Iran and their regional implications. Lawmakers emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to peace, friendship with Iran and Gulf countries, and the importance of national unity.
Speaking in the session, Dr. Farooq Sattar highlighted Pakistan’s strong ties with Iran and praised the Prime Minister and Field Marshal for guiding the nation during challenging times. Farooq Sattar said the country is proud of maintaining its stance in the “battle of truth.”
NA member Sheikh Aftab noted Pakistan’s efforts to establish peace and prevent further damage in the region, condemning attacks on civilians, including schoolgirls, as inhumane. Ikhtiar Beg urged Pakistan, alongside Russia, China, and the UN, to act in stopping the conflict. Osama Hamza called for Pakistan to withdraw from the Peace Board, asserting that America would face defeat in Iran as it did in Vietnam and Afghanistan.
Ali Muhammad Khan emphasized the need for national unity, suggesting that former leaders Nawaz Sharif, PTI founder, and Asif Zardari collaborate on decisions for the country’s benefit. Shahida Rahmani criticized Modi’s visit to Israel, asserting it provoked conflict, and reaffirmed that Pakistan’s nuclear power ensures national security. Naeema Kishor stressed the importance of a wise and measured approach in the current situation.
Aside from the regional discussion, the Assembly also reviewed domestic matters. Details of Karachi Steel Mills’ assets were presented, totaling over Rs 828 billion, with salaries of accused employees exceeding Rs 261.8 million. Additionally, the Ministry of Food Security reported that Pakistan expects to produce more than 29 million metric tons of wheat this year.
The session was adjourned until 2:30 pm on Thursday, with lawmakers reiterating the importance of national unity and strategic decision-making in the face of regional instability.
