Opposition Leader Umar Ayub Warns of Legal Consequences for Those Authorizing Call Tracing, Criticizes Government's Actions

Umar Ayub, the Leader of Tehreek-e-Insaaf and the Leader of Opposition in the National Assembly, has issued a strong warning against the authorization of call tracing, suggesting that those responsible could face legal consequences in the future. Ayub expressed concerns that the same measures could be used against those who give such authorities.

Speaking to the media, Ayub asserted, "Those who authorize call tracing today will themselves be subjected to it tomorrow." He specifically named prominent political figures, including Asif Zardari, Nawaz Sharif, Shehbaz Sharif, Bilawal Bhutto, and Maryam Nawaz, suggesting they could face imprisonment under such laws.

Ayub highlighted recent events, stating, "An arrest warrant was issued against me, plainclothes personnel entered my house, but that case has now concluded." He criticized the government for what he perceives as a lack of evidence in legal proceedings against opposition figures.

Regarding economic policies, Ayub described the government's budget as "economic terrorism" against the people of Pakistan. He accused the government of incompetence and expressed dismay at what he characterized as ignorant governance.

The opposition leader's remarks underscore ongoing tensions between the government and opposition parties in Pakistan, amid heightened political and legal scrutiny.
