Pakistan Denies Indian Allegations of Shaheen Missile Use During Tensions

Pakistan’s Foreign Office (FO) on Monday firmly rejected reports by the Indian media that claimed Pakistan used a nuclear-capable Shaheen missile during recent cross-border tensions with India. The allegations were described as “unfounded” and part of a disinformation campaign to mask Indian military setbacks.

The situation escalated earlier this month following a deadly attack in Indian-Occupied Kashmir’s Pahalgam, which New Delhi blamed on Pakistan without presenting evidence. The tension turned into a brief but intense military confrontation, including air strikes and drone interceptions, eventually brought to a halt through US intervention and a mutually agreed ceasefire.

On Sunday, Indian outlets including News Arena India and NDTV aired reports alleging that Pakistan launched a Shaheen missile amid the shelling. The Indian army even released a video claiming to show the missile's use during what they termed as “Operation Bunyanum Marsoos.”

Responding to these claims, FO spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan said:

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has firmly rejected the unfounded allegations circulating in certain segments of the Indian media, which falsely claim that Pakistan employed the Shaheen missile during Operation Bunyanum Marsoos.”

He added that the Indian army deleted the “misleading video” after realizing the claim was baseless, yet several Indian outlets continued to circulate the narrative. He criticized the Indian army’s silence on the issue, stating it had offered “neither clarification nor retraction.”

According to the FO, credible analysts see this misinformation as part of a broader campaign by India to cover its reported losses during “Operation Sindoor” and to falsely portray Pakistan as engaging in “nuclear blackmail.”

“Such fabricated narratives not only jeopardize peace in South Asia but also undermine the professionalism of Indian institutions that spread or tolerate unverified, inflammatory content,” said the spokesperson.

Meanwhile, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry reaffirmed Pakistan’s resilience in the face of Indian aggression, stating that Pakistan "will never bow down to Indian hegemony."

“The truth is that India is not the US and Pakistan is not Afghanistan. India is not Israel and Pakistan is not Palestine. Pakistan will never be deterred. It can never be coerced,” he said in a strong message to the Indian leadership.

The FO urged responsible reporting and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to peace and regional stability despite provocations.
