POLITICS & POLICY MAKING

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) along with the opposition alliance in the National Assembly is reportedly considering bringing a no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq.
Sources close to the party reveal that during a recent meeting, PTI founder was briefed by legal advisors and key leaders regarding the opposition's stance, including that of Mahmood Khan Achakzai, on moving a no-confidence motion against the Speaker. The PTI founder reportedly authorized party leadership and allied opposition members to prepare and implement a strategy for the no-confidence motion.
PTI insiders say the founder emphasized the need to challenge the current government vigorously, both within parliamentary sessions and through political activities outside.
Speaking to the media, PTI leader Asad Qaiser confirmed that the party is indeed contemplating no-confidence motions against both the Prime Minister and the Speaker. However, he noted that these plans are currently on hold due to heightened tensions between Pakistan and India.
“If the no-confidence motion is brought during the ongoing regional tensions, it will be seen as politicizing a war-like situation,” Qaiser said.
He further added that the no-confidence option remains open and will be exercised at an appropriate time when the political climate allows.
The possible move marks an escalation in political confrontations in Islamabad as opposition parties continue to press for accountability from the ruling coalition led by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
