Pakistan has been successfully elected as a member of the United Nations Commission on Narcotics for a four-year term starting in 2026 and lasting until 2029. This election took place during the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) elections held in New York.
In a statement issued by the Pakistan UN Mission, the country expressed its gratitude for the support extended by the UN Economic and Social Council. The mission further stated that the election underscores the trust and confidence the international community has in Pakistan’s efforts in the global fight against narcotics.
The statement emphasized that being elected to the Commission reflects Pakistan’s commitment to combating drug trafficking, production, and consumption.
