mportant than facilitating trade or the movement of goods.

During a weekly press briefing, the Foreign Office (FO) spokesperson stated that the decision was made in view of last week’s security challenges. “Saving the life of an ordinary Pakistani is more important than the movement of goods and trade,” the spokesperson said.

He also confirmed that a document had been finalized and signed during the Doha talks between Pakistan and the Afghan Taliban government. “Whether the Afghan Taliban government considers it an agreement or not, it doesn’t matter — what’s important is that the commitments were made,” the spokesperson added.

Addressing concerns about water disputes, the spokesperson reiterated that Pakistan would abide by international laws regarding the Kunar River.

When asked about India’s decision to open an embassy in Afghanistan, the spokesperson described it as an internal matter between the two countries. “We do not comment on bilateral affairs of other states, though it is important to note that India’s role in Afghanistan has not been very positive,” he remarked.

Commenting on the situation in the Middle East, the FO spokesperson strongly condemned Israel’s violations of international law. “Israel is committing gross violations of all international laws. We will continue to highlight these issues on international platforms,” he said, reaffirming Pakistan’s stance in support of a sovereign Palestinian state as the only viable roadmap to peace.

It is worth noting that due to heightened tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan, border routes in Chaman, Khyber, South and North Waziristan, and Kurram District have remained closed for the 13th consecutive day. As a result, hundreds of freight vehicles are stranded at key crossings including Bab Dosti, Torkham, Kharlachi, Angoor Adda, and Ghulam Khan.
